Wildwood

What would you do if your baby brother was snatched up by a murder of crows? Would you notify the police? Tell the newspapers? Would people believe you? For Prue, neither were a good option. Prue decided that it would be better to find her baby brother herself. The only problem is those crows flew into the Impassable Woods. What are the Impassable woods you say? A long, looming, thick stretch of trees, ferns, vines and bushes. Stories have cropped up about these woods, stories of people coming in and never coming out. There are the howl of coyotes late in the night to keep people at bay and then there are the crazy ones that go anyway and get lost and when found have no memory of anything. They are the ones that are rescued with the wild but dazed confusion on their faces and the look of living in a jungle with nothing but a stick for months.

Of course as all stories go, things never go as planned and Prue ends up with a tag along friend, Curtis. All goes well until they have a run in with some talking coyotes in soldiers garb…yes you heard that right….talking coyotes, wearing clothes. As you can assume correctly me coyotes were not very friendly and the friends end up being separated. I do not want to go into much more details, after all what would be the point of reading the story, but I will say this, I loved the books so much I cant wait to buy the second one…because yes this is a series and well worth the read. If you love, magic, mystery, action and myth then this story is so for you! I also want you to know that we ate plenty of gorp during this reading. Why do you ask? We ate gorp because it is what Prue brought for her adventure in the Impassible Woods. Naturally we had to eat our gorp while walking some trails in the woods. What is gorp you ask? Well some call it gorp while others refer it as trail mix, yes good ole trail mix of nuts, dried fruit, seeds, cereal and chocolate.

When I make gorp I put an emphasis on the chocolate. I, of course, am a self proclaimed chocaholic. So when I create this treat I truly make it a treat. Here is what I used for my most recent gorp.

GORP

  1. cup of peanuts
  2. cup of M&Ms
  3. cup of caramel M&Ms
  4. cup of cheerios
  5. cup of honey graham cereal
  6. half cup of dried cranberries
  7. half a cup of chocolate chips
