Pinocchio

Hello There,

Yes I have been absent for the month of November, I apologize. However I am back and plan to pop in a lot more as I have a lot of fun plans for the Christmas season. C. Collidi is the author of Pinocchio. He was born in Italy in 1826 and died 1890 in Florence. Collidi was attending seminary when he decided to become a journalist. There was revolutions’ and change happening in Italy at the time and he wanted to be a part of it. Later he became a children’s author. So, have any of you have read Pinocchio? What did you think? I myself, was surprised how different it was from the Disney movie and yet similar in some ways.

For example, the birth of Pinocchio didn’t stem from the blue fairy, but from the carving of the wood. Pinocchio was a naughty piece of wood from the very beginning and when Geppetto bought the lump of wood to carve into a marionette I figured they would bond the moment they met, but this was not the case. In fact Geppetto and Pinocchio did not spent much time together in the beginning and there was hardly time to bond when Pinocchio kept running off. Did you know that Pinocchio killed the cricket…..and yet later in the story the dead cricket returns. Were you aware that Pinocchio lived with the blue fairy for a time, or that he lived a short stint of his life as a donkey at the circus. There is so much you are missing out on when you only view the Disney movie.
