Five ways to Prepare for a Cozy Fall

Have you heard of Hygge? It is a term that originates from Sweden, but has more recently stormed the world, specifically the US. We have fell in love with the idea of making the darker seasons of life a reason to rejoice and find a bit of magic in them.

Hygge is all about keeping the light about us, with candles, warm blankets, twinkle lights, tea and cocoa. it is about enjoying nature and romanticizing the simple things in life. We are coming upon my favorite season of all time…the fall. But you cannot hygge if you don’t plan and prepare. Here are five ways to make the season more prepared and cozy.

  1. Buy ahead your candles, slippers, blankets, spices, chocolate chips and cocoa! I try to prepare by buying in August. I order my chocolate chips, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, caramel, vanilla and specialty cocoas. I find it’s always good to have these on hand for a rainy cool autumn days. I store them in my hutch and it’s such a treat when fall comes and I already have all my go to items.
  2. Plan out the books and movies I want to watch from September to November. They must be fall, spooky or mystery related. This puts me into the autumn mood for sure!
  3. Plan ahead scenic drives, foliage hikes, day trips, camping and fall related activities. Fall is the time I go all out as far as hitting the bucket list goes. I must hit up the farms, hayrides, corn mazes, apple orchards and the like.
  4. Stockpile and plan out cozy crockpot soups and meal ideas, as well as bread recipes. Fall is soup and bread season…my favorite!!
  5. Rummage through your decorations and hit the stores early to see how you want to transform your home into a cozy fall scene. Fall is my favorite time to decorate, be outside and eat! Hope this helps you prepare for the best season of all!
